Welcome to Latitude South!
Seen those posts around saying "hey, internet-at-large, it's time for us all to do our Spring Cleaning" when it's the middle of autumn where you are? Are you resigned to the majority of your flist/rlist/dwircle muttering about the cold when you're dealing 45 degrees celcius and a bushfire is heading your way? This community - once it gets properly off the ground - may well be for you!
I always have a moment of glee in discovering someone else living in this lower half of the globe on DW.
latitude_south is a place where we can hang out, meet other Southern Hemisphereites, occasionally snark about Northerncentricity on the internet (hey, it's totally a word!) and just generally have fun. We'd love for you to join us!

Oh hell, yes.
I admit, I find going into SH winter particularly annoying, because it seems like most of fandom RUSHES into "summer mode" whereby they write lots, meme lots, post lots, and there's a ficathon on every corner pimping out it's (not inconsiderable) wares and expecting me to join in with the fun.
Which is hard when you're going through the SADs and there isn't a public holiday in sight between June and October. (What idiot bureaucrat dictated that, really?)
I'm happy to find more Southemisphrites.
