'Spirit Day'/"National" Coming Out Day

One BNA (Bitter Non-American [USA]-dwelling) response to the question of "Why do we need another day when we already have National Coming Out Day?"

-- Um, not all of us are in the US, you know?

I'm not entirely inclined to support this whole "Wear Purple" day/Spirit Day thing, not least because of the source I've seen the majority of links coming from, plus the whole lack of permission to use pictures of minors issue. (Plus, it's a weekday. I'll be wearing purple. My uniform is purple. Heck, half my non-uniform wardrobe is purple, it's not like me-wearing-purple will make anyone look twice at me.)

But citizen of the USA though I may be, I'm also an expatriate, and ... you use the word 'National'. I do not think that word means what you think it means.

-- Um, not all of us are in the US, you know? this is my response to many a thing. and this also applies to things that are on a fixed date. my time zone is not your time zone. do i do !thing on the date in my time zone or in your time zone? etc.

As my username suggests, pretty much my entire wardrobe has at least an element of purple in it. Even if I am not wearing a top or skirt in purple, my shoes probably will be of that colour. It made celebrating Andrew Bolt Is A Dickhead Day easier, but still.

And as [personal profile] tree said, would I wear extra purple (I'd start looking like Violet Beauregarde in blueberry form, except purple) on the 20th or the 21st? Argh!
